Pin
Nurses wear a pin on their uniform. The wearer of this badge completed the nursing A course and later obtained three further endorsements: the maternity endorsement (stork), the children's endorsement (dots) and district nursing (corners). The badge dates from 1966 and most probably belonged to a woman; men were rarely employed in maternity and district nursing. It was recently decided to abolish the badges, but after strong protests from the nursing profession, that plan was withdrawn.
