Candle glass
Museums keep countless objects that bear witness to the magical world that surrounded childbirth and childbirth. A fine example is the kandeel glass from 1750. Such a glass was also called maternity glass. Engraved on the rim is: 'Het welvaaren van de kraamvrau'. Before drinking the kandeel, a mixture of cinnamon, cloves and rice wine, the father would stir the drink with a pipe of cinnamon to keep malevolent spirits at bay.
