Corset

A corset used to be called a 'bodice'. It is a garment meant to support the waist or bosom. The corset in the picture was not meant to be women's underwear. This is a medical corset to provide certain support to the body on doctor's advice in cases of bone fractures, muscular diseases or back pain, among others. Doctors do not readily prescribe the permanent use of a corset because they fear muscle weakness. In a sense, muscles are our natural corset!
