Apollonia

Apollonia was invoked for toothache, but was also the patron saint of dentists. She lived in the 3rd century. As a Christian, she was fiercely persecuted by the Romans and was killed after horrific torture. For centuries, Apollonia has been revered as a saint. Children especially loved her. Until our times, boys and girls would bring lost milk teeth to a statue of Apollonia, throw the teeth over their shoulders without looking back and make a wish.
